Southeast Storm Pond Solutions
On Thursday, March 3, The City of Calgary Water Services department and I hosted an open house to discuss the unfortunate odours that come from the two storm ponds in McKenzie Towne.
Through the presentation we identified some of the causes of the smells, and some of the solutions that The City will be bringing forward over the immediate and longer terms.
There are a few very difficult realities when dealing with these odours. As these problems are seasonal (occurring mostly during periods of thaw) The City has to wait a full year to find out if actions taken are having a real impact. Through this process Water Services has identified some solutions they believe provide relief to residents.
